Frequently Asked Questions
When is the optimal time for prospective new clients to contact you?
When is the ideal time for us to begin working together?
Ideally, as soon as advanced reading copies/galleys are available, but I’ve successfully secured national media coverage beginning at many different campaign junctures.
When is the ideal time for us to wrap the campaign?
I usually recommend wrapping the campaign at the end of the month your book goes on sale, or a few weeks after, depending on what we’ve accomplished together and the status of media interest, whether the author is touring, whether there are relevant news hooks, etc. We can assess after on-sale date and keep it open-ended.
What is your payment structure?
I operate on a monthly retainer. I am paid for the month up front, preferably starting campaigns on the 1st or the 15th of the month. I prefer to be paid via online bank transfer / direct deposit. I do not accept credit card or do back-end / commission deals.
What information would be helpful to include in my initial email about potentially working together?

- When said publisher will publish your book (approximate date / season is fine)
- Your website
- Your social media handles / links
- Your bio
- Where you are based
- Brownie points: the names (if not links) of the best media outlets who’ve interviewed / featured you previously (not mandatory, but ideal)
- Double brownie points: a link to a recent media clip of you being interviewed on camera – e.g. podcast or TV interview (not mandatory, but ideal)
- Triple brownie points: what sets you apart from the competition
